About Me

Delivering safe, effective and enjoyable exercise programs has always been of professional importance to me.

I have been prescribing exercise for over 20 years. Over that time, the experience I have gathered helps me help people navigate the (often) confusing journey to move optimally and use exercise to enhance their health.

I would describe myself as an exercise clinician that provides gentle guidance and encourages people to achieve more than only ‘numbers based’ goals. Fitness goals that improve our quality of life and ability to engage in life are very important. Examples of these goals are being able to,

  • Have the choice to be active on holidays.
  • Get down on the floor with children/grandchildren.
  • Continue participating in a hobby and/or sport.
  • Live in your own home for as long as possible!
We all know we should include exercise in our everyday lives, but it is important to exercise right for who you are. If you live with any chronic condition or injury and don’t know how to get started, make contact with me.

I am an accredited exercise physiologist (AEP), member of Exercise & Sport Science Australia (ESSA) and the Exercise is Medicine (EIM) Network (ESSA & EIM Network members help people reach physical activity goals for the prevention and management of chronic disease).

I’d love to have an obligation free chat with you if you’d like to know more. Please call 0412-131-129 or send me an email.

FAQs

My GP has recommended I see an exercise physiologist. What is an exercise physiologist?

“Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are differentiated from other allied health professionals or fitness professionals by the possession of extensive knowledge, skills and experience in clinical exercise delivery and health-behaviour change counselling for people with chronic disease or injury”. (ESSA)

Why would my GP refer me to an exercise physiologist?

  • To improve your quality of care
  • To improve your quality of life
  • To support you to increase your physical activity levels in a safe way.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No.

Do I need to do a ‘fitness test’ during the initial consultation?

During the initial consultation there is a combination of ‘talking and doing’. The doing will be focused around your needs and the purpose of the appointment.

What will I get from the consultation?

Everyone has different needs, concerns and demands on their time. The exercise prescription will take this into account when it is designed for you.

A written program and notes are provided post-consultation.

Is the consultation cost covered by Medicare or Private Health Funds?

Your GP may recommend consultations through a Chronic Disease Management Plan. If this is the case, “yes” Medicare will provide a rebate.

Exercise physiology is recognised by many health funds. Contact your provider for details.

How often do I need to have an appointment?

Appointments are scheduled on a needs basis. This varies from individual to individual depending on the level of ongoing supervision they require &/or request.

Please call or email should you have additional questions.
